Carol Dibblee 1927-2011
Carol Dibblee passed away in Salt Lake City on January 19, 2011. Carol was the voice and soul of bridge in Utah from the 1960’s into the 1990’s. Carol was an avid supporter and promoter of bridge. She attained the rank of Diamond Life Master, the sole woman in Utah to reach that achievement. Through dogged determination she helped secure the 1976 and 1988 ACBL Summer Nationals and served as chairperson to both events. She served as Unit 386 President multiple times. For well over 20 years she organized and oversaw the local unit Charity game which resulted in thousands of dollars being donated to American Cancer Society, Arthritis Association, Ronald McDonald House, and Make-a-Wish Foundation. Carol’s background in journalism led to the creation of the Unit “Kibitzer,” an informative and entertaining newsletter. She contributed articles to the ACBL publication, the Bulletin. Carol is survived by her three children Anne, Richard, and Robert, their spouses, and 11 grandchildren.
